Amsterdam - programme of activities for the community school ‘t Koggeschip

Amsterdam Koggeschip - 193795.2

Pilot project area
Geuzenveld-Slotermeer is a post-war expansion area of Amsterdam, designed according to the set-up of the General Expansion Plan (AUP) of 1928 with approximately 18,000 dwellings and 40,000 residents. Geuzenveld-Slotermeer consists for the greater part of porch flats from the 1950s and 1960s. Although many people still live and work there to their satisfaction, there is a gradual process of obsolence developing. Strenghts and weaknesses of the area offer at the same time improvement and innovation.

Overall goal
The overall goal is to develop a curriculum of special activities for the new community school. Main issues are to involve all the different actors, to gain knowledge of the interaction between school, urban district, neighbourhood managers, professionals, parents and residents, and to set up a ‘programme committee’ of neighbourhood residents and professionals to agree and decide on a yearly curriculum of the community school.

Target group
Community school, urban district, professionals, parents and residents.

Amsterdam - Geuzenveld - 179102.1

Steps
Interaction is to be initiated by the neighbourhood manager, external experts aim at bringing together a platform of school, residents and professionals in order to define the activities in demand. After a process of mediation among the parties involved, the new programme of activities will be implemented and a programme committee will be installed.
